Design collaboration brings reputed Danish manufacturer to a new height
The Danish export company DAN DRYER has a long tradition of supplying long lasting hand dryers to public toilets throughout Europe. Dan Dryer has combined its classic intrinsic professional values with flair for new product design and trend setting to take its business to the next level and open doors to a new market.
Hand dryers, soap and disinfectant dispensers, waste bins and baby changing tables are functional interior in a toilet room, but you can ask yourself how important the design is? According to Susanne Friis Eden, Managing Director at DAN DRYER the design could very well be the breeding ground for a sales success arousing international enthusiasm.
- We do not encounter quality or function problems with our products. But a few years ago we decided to concentrate our focus to appeal with design to architects at the project planning phase of a building. The idea was to create a specific Nordic design and we selected the design bureau “VE2” for a creative collaboration as they could see a new potential for our classic industrial product, says Susanne Eden.
Award-winning collaboration
Our non negotiable requirements for quality, functionality and design all came together to give existence to a new collection of toilet equipment – Björk – that has just been awarded the prestigious international design prize Red Dot Design Award BEST OF THE BEST 2017 for its baby changing station. The award is a quality stamp for ground-breaking design. Two years ago the Björk hand dryer also received a Red Dot Design Award for its stylish design.
– We saw that Björk was the missing link for the completion of the new toilet facility environment. The new design with clean lines and a timeless look is a great supplement for customers who want to bring a new and aesthetic dimension to the toilet interior. In this respect the design award is a door opener to the European market; we are very excited and proud to win this award for the second time, Susanne Eden states.
Simplicity and elegance
– The design process of the baby changing station required two years. The goal was to design a hygienic and safe changing unit with an innovative and elegant look unlike anything that is available on the market. The challenge lies in the simplicity and the result is a surface extruded in one piece without joints, to prevent the settlement of bacteria. This construction is particularly appropriate in public toilets. Public areas are a main target area for Dan Dryer however the company wanted to preserve its one of a kind unique image.
